The Auburn Enlarged City School District has appointed Krista Martin as the new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction effective August 30, 2017.
Martin holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in School District/Building Leadership, a Master of Science in Teaching in Special and Elementary Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. This educational foundation contributed to her success as the Director of Secondary Special Education for the district over the past year and a half, and it will surely contribute to her success as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction.
As the Director of Secondary Special Education for the district, Martin provided oversight of the special education and ENL (English as a New Language) departments. She was also responsible for instructional planning, curriculum development, teacher evaluations, and professional development for the CTE and secondary content departments. In addition, as the SESIS (Special Education Student Improvement Specialist) Coordinator, she was involved in extensive school improvement facilitation and provision of professional development for P-12. Additional responsibilities for the district included K-12 teacher evaluations, as well as district-wide coordination of PBIS.
“My administrative experiences and diverse educational and professional background have given me the opportunity to develop expertise in the areas of evidence-based instruction, curriculum, special education and ENL,” says Martin.
“I am looking forward to using my extensive experience and background to help enhance curriculum and instruction district-wide.”
